A new report released by the Violence and Society research group at Cardiff University appears to have confirmed that there is a significant link between binge drinking and serious criminal behaviour. Having undertaken extensive research, lead author of the study Professor Jonathan Shepherd has claimed that significant increases in alcohol prices do have a positive impact in the reduction of serious offending behaviour.

Professor Shepherd said “We have been studying a relatively closed group of serious delinquents for several months now. What we discovered was that by raising alcohol prices by 400% in the House of Commons Members’ Bar, the incidence of serious violence and sexual offending dropped significantly.”
