Rupert Murdoch, the man who has made a fortune by trading on other people’s distress and pain and offering it to the world through his media outlets, regrets that his ex-wife’s love notes and diary entries were ‘splashed’ in Vanity Fair last month and made worldwide headlines. He was apparently shocked and just wished he could have divorced quietly. The pain and humiliation must have been hard for the Digger to bear. And now he just wants to move on.

That is, after he has revived the whole sordid tale one last time during an interview with ‘Fortune’ magazine. Just to let us know that he really wanted it all over with very quietly, of course.

The cynics among us will wait for Murdoch to move on as quickly as possible – after two books, a film and a 12-part television serialisation.
